XII. Juozas Naujalis

Juozas Naujalis (1869-1934) - the patriarch of Lithuanian professional music. He studied in Academy in Varshawa (1884-1889), at the highest church music school in Regensburg (1894). He was a professor of ecclesiastical seminary as well as an organist at the Cathedral. J.Naujalis published a daily magazine “An Organist”, organized the St.Gregory the Great society of organists (1908) and a school for organists which later on was reorganized into the Academy.

1988 J.Naujalis founded a chorus which later on grew into the “Song” society, he created a musical books' store as well. He was the organizer and the conductor in the first Lithuanian Song Festival (1924) in Kaunas.
J. Naujalis was highly evaluated as an organist, a composer, and a conductor.

The end of 19 th century - 20 th century. Popular disc and cylinder musical boxes, card playing musical table, musical plate, mechanical organ, pianola, and various gramophones are exhibited.

XIV. Lithuanian cinematography

XV hall. Fragment of the exhibitionPre-war Lithuanian film apparatus, photos, playbills, documents, publications, editions about the first steps of Lithuanian film makers displayed. The exhibits from the collections of Stepas Uzdonas (1910-1990), Stasys Vainalavicius (b.1910), Vytautas Alseika (b.1912), Juozas Vaickus (1885-1935) help to see the specific features of film technology, the complexity of film apparatus.

XV. Marionettes. Author Stasys Usinskas (1905-1974)

These marionettes acted in the play “Silvestre the Little Pipe” (1936 m.) by A.Gustaitis; in 1937 marionettes were exhibited in Paris in world wide exposition “Place of art and techniques in the world”; the folowing year Stasys Usinskas made the first film with marionettes “Storulio sapnas”("Dream of a Fatty"). The sound recording was made in Berlin. 

Museum gives the opportunity to watch the film “Storulio sapnas” with marionettes by Stasys Usinskas and the Lithuanian silent films' chronicle.
